"I am"

I think it's hilarious how Nellie is so excited to come over and ham it up for the camera but she takes the time to pick up what she dropped first. She can be very meticulous sometimes.

Beach Girl

We took Nellie to San Diego over the weekend. She loved the beach. The waves scared her a little at first but then she loved to run from them.

Baby #2

We had our ultrasound today and everything looks great! We still don't know the sex of the baby. But according to the ultrasound technician the baby is very active. I already knew this because it loves to move around a bunch right when I am trying to go to sleep.

Been a long time

Well I know I need to be better about posting regularly. Nellie has been getting so big. She is walking now, and she is getting pretty good at it. She still falls occasionally but less and less every day. She is talking up a storm and is definitely not afraid to give her opinion. She is getting very good at saying "no" when she doesn't want to do something! She still loves books and "reads" to herself out loud. Yesterday she decided to read to Bonnie too. She is getting very good at cleaning up her own messes when we tell her too. But we are still working on being obedient the first time. here are some pics I took of her today. Just because she looked so cute!

Silliness

Here is a video clip of Nellie reading to herself. The second part I turned the screen around so she could see herself as it was recording. She was acting so goofy!

A Day of Firsts

Sunday Nellie surpised me by doing many things for the first time. I gave her a hug in the morining and told her I love her.  For the first time she said "love you" back. It melted my heart. Then later in the day she stated to sing for the first time. It was so cute! The sweetest little voice. At church when I went in to get her after service she was rolling around and playing with two other kids. She looked so grown up giggling with other kids. I asked her if she had fun at church and she looked at me and said "yeah!" She just looks like a little girl now and is really losing all her babyish qualities. Today she opened a door for the first time. So now nothing is safe!

BIG news!

Nellie took her first step today! We were at the doctor for a check up and she stood up all on her own and took a step. She immediately fell down after. When we got home she kept trying  over and over. Maybe it won't be long after all ;)

Catch Up

Singing into the mic

Well I know it has been a really long time since I updated. Here is all that has happened since I last wrote: Nellie and I took a trip to cali to visit family and go to my nephew, David's graduation. Then took another trip to to North Carolina to visit some of Gabe's family. I found out I am pregnant and I am due in late January. I have really bad morning sickness and I have ended up in the ER twice because I couldn't stop throwing up and was getting really dehydrated. I am on medication but it doesn't seem to help. Gabe and I have decided to try to sell our house and find another one a little bigger. In the meantime we are staying with my parents. For 4th of July we went up north to Pine and stayed in a cabin. Nellie, Gabe, and I came down with a stomach bug and were all throwing up. So all in all it has been a pretty crazy couple of months. But we are all doing well (minus me who is still nauseous all day every day). I will try to be more consistent now!

Catch-up

Well it has been a while since I updated last. Nellie has been doing really well. She has started to "cruise" around furniture a little. She is talking more and more and will say many words when said repeatedly to her.

We just finished our last music class and were sad to be done, but we learned many great new songs. Over the course of the class she got better and better at sitting still and paying attention.

We've been taking trips to the zoo which Nellie loves. She tries to make the sounds for the animals she sees, but will sometimes give the giraffes a "meow" or the tigers a "woof". We've also enjoyed the pool a couple times already. This is going to be a great summer!

New Car Seat!

well we finally got Nellie a "big girl" car seat. After much deliberation we settled on the Britax Boulevard. I haven't installed it yet. But I have been letting Nellie play on it a little (she has already fallen off twice). I really hope she likes it once it is in the car.

This is just a silly face photo, but as you can see she has a rash around her mouth from the hummus I gave her for lunch.
Nellie is reading the manual, making sure we install it right.

yay new car seat!

In the Pool

Yesterday was pretty hot, so I got out Nellie's new pool for the first time. She had a lot of fun in it. I put bubbles in it because my mom used to do that for me! I can't believe yesterday was almost 90 and today has a high of 65! The weather is acting crazy!

Look what I  can do!

Animal Noises

Nellie has started to say "what's that?" or "What's this?" (it is hard to tell which she is saying), and I don't know if anyone else would really be able to distinguish what she means. But she'll say it and point to anything and everything that captures her curiosity.  She is really getting to be such a chatterbox! She is still a long way off from walking. My prediction for her first steps: June 18th. It is just an arbitrary date. Well here is a little video of her making animal sounds. I think this is the cutest thing!

Turning a bad day around

Well Nellie got home from church today and decided to be in a bad mood. I'm not sure if it was because her nap was cut short or what. But she was a booger trying to eat lunch. After lunch she was just crying and screaming for no apparent reason. So I decided she needed a pick-me-up. I took her outside and let her play with water. I filled up a bowl and platter and her her have at it. Then I turned on the hose to let her play with that.  She loved it! Except when she accidently sprayed herself in the face!
I have been feeling really convicted lately about not doing more structured activities with her.  I have been reading toddler wise and it suggests doing fun things with them instead of just letting them roam around going from toy to toy to toy. (Which is what I usually let her do). Although there is a time for that, there also needs to be a time for Nellie to learn to focus on one thing for an extended period of time. When I let her do whatever she wants to do for too long she ends up in all kinds of mischief!
So we ended up having a lot of fun despite her mood. After the water I let her play on the trampoline for awhile, which she loves! And now she is quietly sleeping! yay for wearing her out!

Birthday Party

Nellie's Birthday party was so much fun.  She did really well, and despite how much she ate she didn't puke!

Happy Birthday Nellie!

Here is a montage of Photos from Nellie's first year. I can't believe she is already a 1 year old! This year has been more fun than I could have imagined. I love her so much! And more each Day! She has been such a blessing to our family. I thank God for such a wonderful little person that she is growing up to be. Even when she is "challenging" I can't help but look in her eyes and just want to kiss her and hug her!

We got Nellie up this morning singing Happy Birthday. I'm not so sure how much she liked it. (Sorry about the poor quality)

Should we find out the sex of the baby?
